In Hindu tradition, Lord Kuber is revered as the God of Wealth, the celestial treasurer who safeguards prosperity and distributes it to those deemed worthy. Worshipping Lord Kuber is believed to invite abundance, financial growth, and stability into one's life. But like all divine blessings, timing and intent matter. Here’s a guide on when and how to worship Lord Kuber for attracting wealth and maintaining financial balance.
Lord Kuber (or Kubera) is often depicted as a dwarf-like figure with a potbelly adorned with jewels, holding a money pot or bag of coins. He is said to reside in the northern direction and guard the riches of the universe. Worship of Kuber murti is believed to open doors to financial success and remove obstacles related to wealth.
Timing your prayers can enhance their impact. Here are the most auspicious times to worship Lord Kuber:
1. Dhanteras (Two days before Diwali)
This day marks the beginning of Diwali and is considered highly auspicious for invoking wealth and prosperity. Worshipping a Lord Kuber idol on Dhanteras alongside Goddess Lakshmi amplifies your intentions for abundance.
2. Akshaya Tritiya
Celebrated in April or May, Akshaya Tritiya is a powerful day for beginning new ventures and attracting never-diminishing wealth. Devotees often install a Lord Kubera statue at home on this day.
3. Full Moon Days (Purnima)
Many also choose to offer prayers to Kuber murti during Purnima, especially the Sharad Purnima, when it’s believed the moon showers prosperity and health.
4. Every Friday or Thursday
Fridays (linked to Goddess Lakshmi) and Thursdays (associated with Jupiter – the planet of abundance) are excellent for regular worship of Lord Kuber.
Worshipping Lord Kuber is a mindful practice of gratitude, discipline, and spiritual intent. Here’s a step-by-step guide:
1. Placement of the Kuber Murti
Place the Lord Kubera statue or idol in the north direction of your home or place of business.
Ensure it's clean and respectfully positioned, ideally on a raised platform with a clean cloth.
2. Cleanse the Space
Clean the puja area thoroughly.
Light incense sticks or dhoop and a ghee lamp to purify the energy.
3. Offerings and Decorations
Offer yellow or red flowers, sweets, rice, and coins.
Decorate with kumkum, turmeric, and sandalwood paste.
You may also place a few currency notes or gold items in front of the idol as a symbol of gratitude and offering.
4. Chanting and Prayers
Recite the following Kuber mantra:
“Om Yakshaya Kuberaya Vaishravanaya Dhanadhanyadi Pataye Dhanadhanyasamriddhim Me Dehi Dapaya Swaha”
Repeat the mantra 11 or 21 times with devotion. You can also combine this with Lakshmi mantras for an amplified effect.
5. Maintain Discipline and Cleanliness
The area around the Kuber idol must be kept clean. Avoid disrespectful behavior, clutter, or negative emotions in that space.
