In the Hindu traditions, Diyas (lamps) have immense implications, and therefore, devotees glow brass Diya while praying. Not a single holy ritual can be finished without illuminating Diyas and Deepawali (also known as Diwali) is said to be the fiesta of Diyas. Diya signifies spirit filled with perception, and it is supposed that whenever we have acquaintance, our spirit is occupied with light and we can make a treaty with any difficult situation easier, but whenever the light of wisdom is not present in the soul, darkness comes in life. Therefore, the practice of illuminating brass Pooja Diya is symbolic.
